Thomas Fred Hamilton (Freddy) passed away on July 22, 2023, at the age of 78 after a brief illness. He was born on February 2, 1945 in Enterprise, Alabama to John Thomas Hamilton and Mary Margaret Hamilton. He happily lived his life in Coffee County except for a short period of time spent in North Carolina during his childhood. Freddy was a graduate of Enterprise High School, and he attended Auburn University until he returned home, married his childhood sweetheart Carol Waddell Hamilton, and took a position with the Alabama Department of Conservation, Game and Fish Division. He enjoyed a successful career in the Fisheries Division and retired from the State of Alabama after 31 years of distinguished service. Freddy also faithfully served his country and state in the Alabama National Guard, retiring after 23 years. Freddy was an avid outdoorsman his entire life. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his grandchildren. He was a regular on area golf courses with his numerous golfing buddies. Freddy loved his retirement years, and he could often be found at a ball field or school events with his grandchildren and nephews, on the water casting a line with his friends, playing golf, watching Auburn athletics, enjoying time at the beach, or rocking on the front porch with Carol. He was a member of First Methodist Church, Enterprise.
Freddy is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years Carol, 2 cherished daughters Ashli Hamilton Wilkins (Shawn) and Holli Alison Hamilton Brackin (Chad), 4 adored grandchildren Hannah Brackin, Hunter Brackin, Allie Simmons (Trey), and Evie Wilkins, one brother Tommy Hamilton (Barbara), one precious sister Martha McHenry (Rich), brother-in-law Bill Waddell, niece Jennifer Lynn Gilley (Mitch), nephews Mark Krystyn (Sarah) and Sam McHenry, 2 great nieces, 2 great nephews, 2 great-great nephews, numerous cousins, and many friends.
Funeral Services will be held at Sorrells Funeral Home in Enterprise, Alabama on Tuesday, July 25, 2023. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with the service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Meadowlawn Cemetery, Enterprise, Al with Reverend Matt Jordan and Reverend Billy Luttrell and speaker James Lambert Officiating. Pallbearers are Hunter Brackin, Mark Krystyn, Sam McHenry, Trey Simmons, Van Westmoreland, and Dennis Jowers. The family is grateful for all the love and support given to them during this time. They are especially thankful for the New Brockton Alumni Association, the Three Seasons Garden Club, Kendall Thomas from Gentiva Hospice, and the Church Family for their kindness and fervent prayers.
