Pauline (Griswold) Edgar

Mrs. Pauline Griswold Edgar, a native of Coffee County, and long term resident of Dothan passed away October 4, 2023 in Birmingham at age 105.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am at El Bethel Assembly of God Church in New Brockton. Burial will follow in the Old Tabernacle cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Enterprise directing. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service beginning at 10:30 am and continuing until service time.

Mrs. Edgar was born in the Ennon community of Coffee County June 20, 1918. She married Edwin Edgar. They were married 38 years until his death in 1972. During their marriage she was principally a homemaker but also a licensed cosmetologist. After Mr. Edgar's death she had a 10 year career with Akwell Industries in Dothan

In addition to Mr. Edgar, Mrs. Edgar was preceded in death by a son Jim Edgar and her mother and father, Rev. Bennie Griswold and Easter Stevens Griswold. Though the eldest of the children in her family, Mrs. Edgar was preceded in death by all but one of her siblings, including Claiborne Griswold, Aubrey Griswold, Juana Griswold Wood, Sue Griswold Pope, Joseph Griswold and Zonya Griswold.

She is survived by her sister Jean Griswold Harper of Camilla, GA. Other survivors include her son John Edgar (Patsy) of Dahlonega, GA, a daughter-in-law Norma Edgar Bullock, of Ashford, AL. Granddaughters, Paula Edgar Land (Anthony), of Springville, AL., Karen Edgar Oliver (Enayat) of Roswell, GA., Chris Edgar Norris (Stephen) of Huntsville, AL, Jackie Bedford Kochwelp (Bill) of Austin, TX. grandsons Scott Davis (Sheree) of Hiawassee GA, and Alan Hale (Dorothy) of Jefferson GA. She is also survived by 8 great grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews and their families .
