Gloria Ann (Chapman) Chase

Gloria Ann Chapman Chase of Daleville, Alabama passed away Saturday, August 26, 2023. She was 97.

Funeral services will be at 2:00pm on Friday, September 1, 2023 at Daleville United Methodist Church in Daleville, Alabama with Reverend Lee Jones officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Enterprise directing. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery in Enterprise Alabama. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm and continuing until service time.

Gloria was born March 11, 1926 to the late Keither Chapman and Ethel Frazier Chapman in Stone Kentucky. Gloria's father was a coal miner in Stone Kentucky and her mother was a cook for the Belfry School System. Gloria attended school in Belfry Kentucky. She was very involved in school activities becoming a Cheerleader in her high school years. Gloria married Emery Boyd Chase in 1945. They lived in the same mining camp of the Ford Motor Company. Boyd and Gloria were sweethearts most of their lives. They married when Boyd was home on leave from the war. The next day he was shipped off to the Pacific while serving in the Navy during WWIl. After the war she and Boyd finally resided in Pikeville Kentucky where she was very involved in the Pikeville School System as PTA president as well as a Brownie Leader. The family moved to Tampa Florida in 1961 where she became a Girl Scout Leader, then the Head of Grey Ladies; back then known as, School Nurse. She worked for the Hillbourgh County school system at Town N Country and Dickenson elementary schools. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 73 years, a brother, Roy Chapman, sisters, Brookie Chapman Combs, and Nancy Chapman Noblit.

Survivors include her sister Billie Jean Chapman Thacker, Raeford, North Carolina, daughters Brenda Sue Chase and Katherine Chase McIntosh (Randall), Daleville Alabama. Grandchildren: Mike Blaze, Chase McIntosh (Ashley), Stormi Mcintosh Henry (Zebedee). and Sara Kate Blais Channels. Great Grand Children: Emily Nicole Stinson, Matthew Combee, Olivia Ann Henry,Jameson McIntosh, Emeri Brooke Henry, Abbygail Kate Channels and Zebedee Henry V. MANY nieces and nephews which she loved dearly. Special thanks to Day Spring Hospice, her loving nurse April Oliveira, caregiver Amanda Freeman and all the other's that took such loving care of our mother.
