Gary M Whatley

Gary M Whatley, of Grand Ridge, Florida passed away Sunday, March 10, 2024. He was 67.

Funeral Services will be held at 2PM, Wednesday, March 13, 2024 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Enterprise, AL. Interment will follow at Meadowlawn Memorial Park.

Gary was born March 23, 1956 in Hartford Alabama to Coleman Whatley and Orine Anderson Whatley. Gary was preceded in death by his father, one brother Michael Whatley, niece Jade Jenkins, grandchildren Trevor and Troy Simmons.

Gary was a hard worker, a farmer and well driller, who loved his family and gave his life for others. He loved the Lord and was a Godly man, when he would get up in mornings he’d go into the bathroom and look in the mirror at himself and say “I get more good looking everyday.”  He served his country in Vietnam and was so selfless that he didn’t even want people to worry, keeping his own health problems private.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years Deborah Adkison Whatley, two sons Gary Simmons Jr. (Shannon) and Tony Simmons (Vicky); his mother Orine Whatley; his sister Becky Whatley Motley and brother Wyman Whatley (Joan), five grandchildren Michelle Simmons, Ashlee Simmons (Trey Tucker), Nikki Simmons, Trey Simmons (Allie), Tyler Simmons. Two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
