Elsie Snellgrove Hilton passed away on Friday, March 17 th in Oakton, Virginia. She was 84.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at Sorrells Funeral Home in Enterprise, with the Reverend Darryl Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow at Old Tabernacle United Methodist Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until service time.

Elsie was born in Coffee County, Alabama on September 19, 1938 to Roscoe and Bonnie Lou (Flowers) Snellgrove. She was a 1956 graduate of New Brockton High School. She received her undergraduate and masters degree from the University of Montevallo. She taught Home Economics for over thirty years in South Carolina, California, Virginia and Alabama. She retired from teaching in 1996, finishing out her career at New Brockton High School. Elsie was a longtime member and past regent of the John Coffee Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a founding member of the New Brockton High School Alumni Association and the Coffee County Herbal Society. She was well-known throughout Southeast Alabama for her knowledge of herbs and plants and was a frequent vendor at the Enterprise Farmers Market and the Alabama Herb Society Day.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Hilton, her parents, and her brother, James Flowers Snellgrove.
She is survived by her children, Gina (Dan) Warner, and Johnathan (Vilma) Hilton; two grandchildren, Kieran Warner and Alex Hilton; and her sister, Juanita Hornsby, and her brother, Rhett Snellgrove.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff and caregivers of Sunrise Living at Hunter Mill in Oakton, Virginia for their loving care and support.
