Donival ”Rob” Robinson, of Enterprise, Alabama passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2023. He was 46.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, February 2, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel with Philip Box and CH (MAJ) Tim Shepheard officiating Military Honors will follow. Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery on February 6, 2023. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday beginning at 1:00pm and continuing until service time.
Donival Lucas Robinson, beloved son of Aundrea Robinson- Harrison, was born on Friday, March 5, 1976 at the Homer D. Phillips Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. His sudden and unexpected departure from life occurred on Wednesday, January 25, 2023. Donival Robinson, aka “Rob,” “Deebo,” and “Peter Pan” received his education at St. Barbara Grade School, and in 1994 graduated from Cardinal Ritter College Preparatory High School in St. Louis, Missouri. Donival entered the United States Army in 1995 in Fort Rucker, Alabama as an Air Traffic Controller, Private First Class. While his military career took him to various duty stations in Korea, Kuwait, and Egypt, Donival exemplified all the army’s values as he led, mentored, and supported his soldiers, his Command, and everyone with whom he interacted.
While serving in the U.S. Army, Donival, with the assistance of Damitta Roberts, was introduced to Cathyann Figaro at a modeling practice. Donival and Cathyann fell in love instantly, six months later they commemorated their love on February 14, 1999, at Fort Rucker Chapel of Wings, Fort Rucker, Alabama. Their union was blessed with their precious daughter, Kylah Diyanera Robinson, who completed their family.
Donival Robinson retired from the U.S. Army on January 31, 2016, and immediately transitioned to USAEUR-AF G3 Air Traffic Services Detachment as a Quality Assurance Specialist. While serving as a Department of Defense (DOD) civilian in Germany, Donival continued to demonstrate his outstanding leadership qualities and capabilities. This position afforded him the opportunity to work extensively throughout Europe, allowing him to visit a variety of military installations in Poland, Austria, Latvia, Luxembourg, Belgium and many other European countries. Throughout his military career, he garnered respect, admiration, and love from all the individuals he met. Upon returning to the United States on August 17, 2020, Donival reached the height of his career when he served under Air Traffic Command as a GS-13 Air Traffic Service Specialist.
Preceding him in death were his: Grandparents David and Helen Robinson, Uncle Rodney Wallace, and Step-Father Sydney (Sid) Kessler Harrison. Donival leaves to mourn his: Mother– Aundrea Robinson-Harrison, Wife of 24 years–Cathyann Robinson, and daughter, Kylah Robinson; Aunts–Carolyn Wallace and Stephanie McPherson; Cousin Aaron McPherson, and a host of family and friends.
In the short span of his life, Donival touched so many lives which is reflected in the depth of the love, support and kindness of the many individuals who have surrounded his family. Many individuals who knew him appreciated their interactions with him and felt he possessed an admirable bed side manner.
Donival Lucas Robinson was a true hero–to his family, and more importantly, to his country!
