Charles Edward Kent, Sr.

Charles Edward Kent, Sr., of Alford, Florida, passed away Monday, December 5, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 84. A private family service is planned at a later date.

Charles Edward was born July 16, 1938, in Washington County Florida to the late Curtis Kent Sr. and Lula Walters. He was preceded in death by one son Charles Edward (Chuck) Kent, Jr., one sister Mary Alice Mitchell two brothers John Richard Kent and Gerald Wayne Kent and tow brother in laws Malvin Corbin and Jimmy Mitchell. Charles was the oldest of thirteen children, after high school Charles Edward enlisted in the military in 1956. After his military service he went into the retail industry and worked all over the Southeastern United States as a hardlines store opener. Charles Edward also became a corporate business owner.  In 1981 he became a partner in a brokerage group. After retirement he came home to spend the rest of his life with his family while watching FSU football and enjoyed sinking his eyes in a good book.

Survivors include his partner of 25 years, Joan Gilmore, two daughters Sherry Hughson (Tom) of Boscowan, NH, Lorna Becker (Tim) of Westminster, Ma. Two brothers Curtis Kent, Jr., and Frankie Kent (Margaret) and six sisters and brother in-laws Wanda Grick (Jim), Carolyn Chancellor (Charles), Kathryn Justice (Paul), Linda Register (Larry)Elizabeth Corbin, Gail Burnett (Bill) Judy Rich (Chuck), three granddaughters, two grandsons, several nieces and nephews.
