Mr. Zane N. Hundley, of Enterprise, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at his residence. He was 88 years old.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, 3925 County Road 610, Enterprise, with Reverend Hubert McWaters officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Enterprise directing.

Mr. Hundley was born February 18, 1938, in Alabama to the late Audrey and Beatrice Cobb Hundley. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Elise Cain Hundley; brothers, Rube Hundley and Brice P. “Johnny” Hundley; and sister, Deloris Shelton.

Zane Hundley was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Marilyn, for more than 30 years. With unwavering love and dedication, he faithfully cared for her throughout her courageous battle with a chronic illness until her untimely passing in 1997. He treasured her memory for the rest of his life and chose not to remarry, honoring the enduring love they shared.

He was a loving father to his three children, Nancy, Karen, and Nathan, and a proud grandfather and great-grandfather who cherished every opportunity to spend time with his family. He delighted in sharing stories about generations of relatives and preserving their family’s history. His passion for genealogy, particularly researching the Hundley family, allowed him to connect his loved ones with their heritage and share meaningful glimpses into the past.

For more than 40 years, Zane dedicated his life to the building industry in Enterprise and the surrounding communities. After years of working as a local builder, he founded his own home-building business in 1977, operating it with integrity and excellence for the next 25 years until his retirement in 2002. He earned the respect and trust of countless families through his commitment to quality craftsmanship, dependable service, and pride in every home he built.

Zane was also a proud veteran who served in the Alabama Army National Guard during the 1960s as a member of the U.S. Army Engineer Corps. His service reflected the same values of dedication, hard work, and integrity that guided him throughout his life.

In his free time, Zane found great joy in the outdoors. He especially loved gardening and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Above all, he treasured the time he spent with family, leaving behind a legacy of love, faithfulness, hard work, and devotion that will be remembered by all who knew him.

Survivors include his children, Nancy Edwards of Tennessee, Karen Williamson of Troy, Alabama, and Nathan Hundley (Julie) of Georgia; brother, Terry Hundley (Dianne) of Dothan, Alabama; seven grandchildren, Trent Edwards (Mallory), Kenley Mertz (Alex), Graham Williamson, Emily Shaver (Hunter), Skylar Hundley, Ella Hundley, and Rae Hundley; three great-grandchildren, Chesney Mertz, Hudson Mertz, and Presley Mertz; sister-in-law, Debbie Hundley; brother-in-law, Johnny Cain (Sandra); and numerous nieces and nephews.
