William "Bill" G Welejski

William G. “Bill” Welejski of New Brockton, Alabama, passed away Saturday, August 7, 2021 at his home. He was 81.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 13, 2021 at El Bethel Assembly of God in New Brockton with Pastor Steve Comer officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continue until time of service.

Bill was born November 1, 1939 in Elbow Lake, Minnesota to the late John and Doris Welejski.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Robert Welejski.  Bill served his country as a captain in the U.S. Army.  While serving in Vietnam he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Aviation Badge, the Distinguished Flying Cross and Bronze Star Medal.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Welejski; son, Michael Welejski (Celeste); stepdaughter, Carol DuBose; stepson, Greg DuBose (Megan); sister, MaryAnn Cheyne (Dave); and three grandchildren.
