William Lester Franklin

William Lester Franklin of Samson died Thursday, May 7, 2020.  He was 80.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2020 at Travelers Rest Cemetery in Samson, AL with Reverend Sam Totten and Reverend John Boss officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home directing

Lester was born November 4, 1939 to the late James and Marjorie Franklin.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy McIntosh Franklin.  He was a member of Samson First Baptist Church where he showed his love for the Lord.  He also loved his family and antique cars.  While in school at Troy State he developed a passion and learned to fly.  He retired after 40+ years as a Chief Corporate Pilot at Southern Company.

Survivors include a very special friend and companion, Janice Crews; son, Joey Hundley (Penny) of Auburn, AL; daughters, Sheila Walters and Melonie Gibson (Jody) both of Enterprise; sister, Jan Franklin Hallmark of Samson, AL; nieces, Donna Beavers of Atlanta, GA and Ronda Adamson of Opp, AL; and nephew, Robert Hallmark of Samson, AL.
