Vernon Wayne Smith

Vernon Wayne Smith of Enterprise, Alabama formally of Arizona passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 24, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was 78.

Funeral services with cremation to follow will be at 2:00 pm on Monday, July 29, 2024 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory in Enterprise. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm and continuing until service time.

Vernon was born July 5, 1946 in Ohio to Robert and Priscilla Morris Smith. He served in the United States Army and retired as a CW4. After retiring from the Army, Vern then joined the Arizona Army National Guard. He also would go on to join the Arizona Rangers, always following his duty to protect and serve. Vern loved Nascar and his family. Three years ago he and his wife moved back to Alabama to allow him to be closer to his son and grandchildren. His father preceded him in death.

Survivors include his loving wife, Joyce Smith; son, Vern Smith; daughter, Robyn Harrison; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
