Mrs. Susan “Sue” High of Daleville, Alabama, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, July 5, 2026. She was 76 years old.
The family is holding a memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 208 East Watts Street, Enterprise, Alabama, with Pastor Jim Endrihs officiating. Interment will be held at Tofte Cemetery, 40 Homestead Drive, Tofte, Minnesota 55615, on July 18, 2026, at 3:00 PM. Immediately following interment, a meal will be hosted at the home of Rose and Tim Thoreson, 6907 West Highway 61, Tofte, Minnesota, and all are invited to attend.
Sue was born in South Dakota on October 22, 1949, to the late Vincent and Bessie Bartos Wood. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Lawrence “Larry” High; son, Jerry High; sisters, Karen Restivo and Barbara Wood; and step-father, Alvie Hines.
Sue was a devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She loved her family and friends more than anything. Her contagious laughter filled her entire body as well as the room. Sue was a loved and hardworking “lunch lady” for over 30 years serving children in both the Daleville Schools and Birch Grove Elementary in Tofte.
Survivors include her children, Rose Thoreson (Tim) of Tofte, Minnesota, Sarah High (Corey) of Daleville, Will High of Daleville and Chuck High (Anne) of Gallatin, Tennessee; daughter-in-law, Christy “Nikki” High; sister, Mary Hines; eight grandchildren, Koery Thoreson (Susie), Trevor High, Taraen High, Miranda Hall, Joey High (Anna), Myranda Wells (Ethan), Katelyn High, and Terrance High; and seven great-grandchildren, Sadie Thoreson, Grace Thoreson, Dewayne High, Chayce Hall, Cameron Hall, Malachi Hall, and Everett Wells, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
