Sun O. Fox

Sun Ok, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer at her residence, on April 15th 2025, a few short weeks after her 68th birthday.

A devoted Christian, a vibrant spirit, and a woman whose light touched all who knew her, Sun Ok was the kind of woman who could shape an eyebrow, fix a bad haircut, and speak the truth - sometimes all at once - and still leave you laughing as you walked out the door.

Born in Seoul, South Korea on April 2nd 1957, she was one of four children. Sun met and married Kenneth J. Fox in 1976 and moved to the US where she would later give birth to her only child, Edwin James in 1985, while stationed in Fort Belvoir, Virginia.

As a licensed cosmetologist, she went on to successfully operate her own beauty salon and beauty supply store where her passion for work, combined with her warm and honest personality earned her a loyal clientele that spanned decades. Her quick wit, sense of humor, and unapologetic honesty made her unforgettable to everyone she met. Her store was more than a business; it was a safe haven, a community hub, and sometimes a therapy session with good lighting. People didn’t just come for the beauty products - they came for her wisdom, her laughter, and the way she made everyone feel like family.

A fervent believer in Jesus Christ, her unwavering faith was the cornerstone of her life. Even in her illness, she made every effort to attend church, worship, and encourage others.

She is survived by her only cherished son, Edwin James Fox, and beloved granddaughter, Laurel Ann Fox. Her legacy of strength, faith, and love lives on in them and in all the lives she touched.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 4:00 until 6:00 pm. Funeral services with cremation to follow will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 26, 2025, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory. All are welcome to join us in remembering a woman who brought beauty, boldness, and heart to everything she did.

She will be deeply missed, but her memory will continue to inspire and comfort us.
