Mr. Steven “Steve” L. Patch passed away Sunday, March 1, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was 76 years old.
Memorialization will be cremation with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
Steve was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on March 10, 1949, to the late Donald and Edna Patch. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Marion Patch.
Steve proudly served his country in the US Army for 22 years. He was drafted in 1968 and sent to Vietnam where he sustained injuries that required him to be medevaced out. During his military career he was stationed in Fort Riley, Kansas, Korea, and Hawaii numerous times before retiring at his last duty station, Fort Rucker. He went on to work Civil Service for another 23 years.
He met and married the love of his life, Jerri, in 1970, while stationed at Fort Riley. As the military took them all over the US, they raised two sons, Steven, Jr. and Brian.
Steve was a man with many hobbies and interests, all of which involved being outdoors. From hunting to fishing to gardening, he spent much of his free time enjoying nature. He even learned to scuba dive in Hawaii, and became a certified dive master. He dove at least one to two times per week. In his retirement years, he was an avid bowler, bowling in local leagues four nights per week.
Steve is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jerri Patch; his sons, Steven Patch, Jr. of Enterprise and Brian Patch of Daleville; brother, Leo Patch of Michigan; and sister, Catherine Mays of Minnesota.
His family will deeply miss him, but the legacy he leaves will last a lifetime.
