Shirley A O'Connor

Ms. Shirley Herrington O’Connor, age 88, passed peacefully from this life on November 17, 2025. She was born on January 19, 1937, in Alabama to the late Thomas and Annie Herrington.

A devoted wife, beloved family member, and faithful Christian, Shirley lived a life marked by kindness, humility, and a quiet strength that blessed all who knew her. She was great at visiting and loved time with friends. She also loved to shop!

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at Goodman Baptist Church, with Pastor Bruce Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowlawn Cemetery in Enterprise, Alabama. Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory will be directing. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Emmett O’Connor; and her siblings, Theodore Herrington, Arrie L. Herrington, John Herrington, Namon Herrington, Harold Herrington, Harry Herrington, Alford Herrington, Frank Herrington, Belle H. Reynolds, Ruby H. Hogan, Tybitha H. Barfield, Alma Herrington, Ester H. Scarnegie, Easter H. Newbie, and Mazie H. Hartford.

Survivors include Margie Herrington, Myrtle Smith, Janie Reynolds, Grace Thompson, Helen Green, Sherlon Weeks, Joyce Reynolds, Jeff Herrington, and Roy Herrington.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Shirley’s memory to the Goodman Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 463 County Road 633, Enterprise, AL 36330.

Shirley’s gentle spirit, steady faith, and deep love for her family will forever remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
