SFC (Ret.) Jimmy Roger Hundley

SFC (Ret.) Jimmy Roger Hundley of Enterprise, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2025. He was 89 years of age.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory with Reverend Philip Box officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Meadowlawn Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 AM until service time.

Jimmy was born September 24, 1935, to the late Cliff and Cleo Hundley. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Alice Hundley; daughter-in-law, Penny Hundley; brothers, Murrey Hundley and Glenn Harrell “Shug” Hundley; and sister-in-law, Katherine Hundley.

Jimmy entered into the US Army at the age of 17 and proudly served his country for 20 years before retiring, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class. As a soldier he served one tour in Korea, two tours in Germany, and two tours in Vietnam. He was a decorated soldier earning many awards and medals including the Bronze Star (W/O/L), Air Medal (W/O/L), Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct, Germany Occupation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal (W/O/L), Korean Defense Medal, Republic of Vietnam Service Medal, and Master Aviation Crewman Wings.

Unbeknownst to many, he also loved animals of all kinds. Jimmy enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels and watching the rabbits in his yard. He leaves behind a proud legacy of love of country and love of family.

He is survived by his children, Sheila Hundley Walters of Enterprise and Joey Hundley of Auburn; brother, Ted Hundley (Brenda); sister-in-law, Dale Hundley; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild on the way.
