Sfc John Porter

SFC John Porter of Daleville, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at Southeast Medical Center.  He was 80.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at Sorrells Funeral Home in Enterprise.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 p.m. and continue until time of service.  Final disposition will be by cremation.

John was born in Florida on January 30, 1942, to the late Archie and Dicey Porter.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert T. Porter; brothers, John F. Porter, James Porter, and J.C. Porter; and sister, Nelly Yeager.  John served his country for over twenty years in the U.S. Army which included two tours in Vietnam as a combat engineer.  He then retired and opened P & W Garage in Daleville, a second career of more than twenty years.  He loved fishing, bowling, and he had a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu.

Survivors include his wife, Chong Hui “June” Porter; children, Carolyn Hacker of Enterprise, Daniel Porter of Daleville, and Sandra Fisher of Pasadena, Maryland; siblings, Grady Porter, Luise Sapp, and Hazel Porter, all of Highsprings, Florida; grandchildren, Davina Miranda (Gustavo), Janel Hacker, Crystal Waddell (Brian), Amanda Porter, Katrina Felix (Ray), Daniel Jerome Porter II, Christopher Porter, Jonathan Porter (Caitlin), Breanna Fisher, Austin Porter, and Charles Logan Fisher; and great-grandchildren, Nicholas Miranda, Isabela Miranda, Norman Hacker, Sophia Miranda, Damien Waddell, Elizabeth Porter, Laura Porter, Nyla Waddell, Jonathan Porter, Ryder Porter, John David Porter, and Ryleigh Porter.
