Sarah L. (Lewis) Griggs

Sarah L. Griggs, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on August 28, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 9, 1936, in Brooksville, Florida, to Fred G. and Isabel Lewis.

Sarah dedicated her life to caring for others, particularly children, and her warm heart and nurturing spirit touched everyone who knew her. A talented seamstress, artist, and musician, she found joy in creating beauty through her hands and shared her love of music by playing the piano. Sarah was also known for her unique collection of treasures, reflecting her vibrant personality, zest for life and great sense of humor.

She is preceded in death by her cherished husband, James Griggs; her parents; and her brother, Freddy Lewis.

Sarah is survived by her four children, Judy Harris (Larry), James Griggs, Sheila Kalahan (Jim), and John Griggs (Karla). She leaves behind six grandchildren: Alison, Shawn, Cheyanne, Casey, Brendan, and Karter. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense pride and joy in her life.

A graveside service will be held at Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church cemetery on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 10AM, with Sorrells Funeral Home of Enterprise directing. In honor of Sarah’s loving spirit, we invite all who knew her to celebrate her life and the countless ways she made the world a better place.

Sarah will be dearly missed but will forever remain in our hearts.
