Robert Wayne O'Ferrell

Robert Wayne O’Ferrell, a beloved and unforgettable character, passed away on July 25, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on August 27, 1943, Wayne was a lifelong resident of Alabama and, by all accounts, a true original. Known for his big personality and even bigger heart, he never met a stranger and never missed a chance to strike up a conversation. Loud, boisterous, and full of life, Wayne was a true wheeler and dealer, always ready with a story, a deal, or a laugh.

Wayne deeply loved the Lord and had a sincere love for people. His faith and his friendships were central to his life, and he had a way of making everyone feel like family. Whether you knew him for five minutes or fifty years, Wayne had a way of leaving a lasting impression.

Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Thursday, July 31, 2025, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory with Reverend Nate Sims officiating. Burial will follow at Old Town Cemetery in McKenzie, Alabama US Highway 84 and Lizard Lope Road. The family will receive family and friends beginning at 12:30PM.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, James and Brownie O’Ferrell; his brother, James D. “Buddy” O’Ferrell; and his sister, Jeanette Griffin.

He is survived by his daughters, Tammy Marie Cauley and Delisha O’Ferrell; his grandchildren, Hunter Cauley (Megan), Bethany D. McWaters, and Robert D. McWaters; and several great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind two loving sisters, Kathryn Milton and Sybil Bradfield, as well as a host of extended family and friends who will miss his wit, warmth, and unforgettable presence.
