Robert “Bob” H. Evans, 94, of Enterprise, Alabama, found rest in the arms of God on the morning of July 6, 2025.

Funeral services and burial will be conducted at the Meadowlawn Cemetery in Enterprise, Alabama, at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2025, with Sorrells Funeral Home directing.

Robert was born on a farm in Escambia County, Alabama. He was the second of eight children born to Samuel and Delia Mae Evans.

Robert enlisted in the U.S. Army shortly after his eighteenth birthday. He began his military career as a tractor operator and retired as a Master Sergeant after serving for nearly 22 years as an Intelligence Specialist and Helicopter Mechanic. His experiences included combat in the Korean War where he was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge. He, also, participated in pioneering the development of the Army’s Air Mobility doctrine while at Fort Benning, Georgia, before deploying to Vietnam for further combat service. While in the Army, Robert successfully completed his GED test and numerous technical and leadership courses. After the completion of his military service, Robert deployed to Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Libya as a contractor maintaining helicopters for various private and governmental agencies.

Automobiles were Robert’s passion. While he owned many over the years, his prize was a 1968 Shelby Mustang GT500 KR in which he delighted in touring local car shows. Through this pursuit, Robert enjoyed making several life-long friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Corinne, as well as brothers, Richard, Harry, and Samuel “Grill”. He is survived by his sisters, Julia Marie Wilson of Birmingham, Caroline Taylor of Brewton, and Lottie Faye Scalise of Panama City, Florida; and brother, John, of Jay, Florida. Robert is, also, survived by three children, Linda Angel of Enterprise, Christine Shaw of Aquone, North Carolina, and Roger Evans of Troy; six grandchildren, Courtney Weatherford of Dothan, Joshua Nava of Enterprise, Lauren Taylor of Buford, Georgia, Amy Radford of Decator, Georgia, Jennifer Evans of Fort Meyer, Florida, and Samuel of Loveland, Colorado; and four great-grandchildren, David, Samuel, and Zelda Radford, and Isla Rue Evans.
