Richard "Ricky" D. Waldrop, Sr.

Mr. Richard “Ricky” D. Waldrop, Sr. passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2025, in Dothan, Alabama. He was 67.

Memorialization will be by cremation with a private Celebration of Life service to be held at a later date.

Ricky was born November 15, 1958, in Florida to the late Mac and Ruby Ford Waldrop. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Diane Waldrop; son, Richard Waldrop, Jr.; brothers, Doug, Wayne, and Ralph Waldrop; and sisters, Carolyn Wilson and Maxine Cook.

To know Ricky was to love him, as his love, laughter, and joy spread to all who knew him. Ricky never met a stranger, and he brought great joy to many children over the years playing Santa with his authentic white beard and suspenders. Ricky retired after working 30 years as a supervisor with the City of Ocoee, Florida. An avid sports fan, he loved cheering on his beloved Florida Gators and Atlanta Braves.

Survivors include his daughter, Cynthia Justice (Ricky) of Midland City; stepdaughter, Anna Gustavson (Steve); brothers, Paul Waldrop (Barbara) and Alan Waldrop (Rhonda); five grandchildren, Baley Fowler (Remington), Braden Justice (fiancé, Gracie Maupin), Paige Walmer, Dawson Walmer, and Kaiden Watkins; three great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff on Hall 7 at Extendicare Health and Rehabiliation and Gentiva Hospice for the excellent care given to Ricky.
