Richard Stowe Maccabe of Enterprise, Alabama passed away March 26, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was 88.
Memorialization will be by cremation with a family service at a later time.
Richard was born February 20, 1936 in Massachusetts to the late Russell and Helen Stowe Maccabe. He was also preceded in death by his son Kenneth Andrew Maccabe and son-in-law Alex Baker.
Richard had a passion for learning and was amazed with life, obtaining a Master's degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He wanted to know everything he could about everything and would dive into whatever sparked his interest. He worked with Civil Service for 38 years, completed U.S. Naval Air Test Center test flight training at Patuxent River, Maryland, worked as an Aerospace Engineer for the Bureau of Naval Weapons in Columbus, Ohio and worked as Aerospace Engineer at U. S. Army Combat Developments Command Aviation Agency, Fort Rucker, Alabama before retirement.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years Noreen Maccabe, son Mark Maccabe (Linda K.), daughters Suzanne Baker and Beverly Peterson. Brother Russel "Win" Maccabe (Carol), nephews Christopher Stockman (Carol) and Rayan Maccabe, niece Jordan Picozzi (Mark), grandchildren Richard D. Quillen, Jr., Alexander Baker (Breanna), Cavanagh Stowe Baker, William Stowe Maccabe, Molly Ann Fuller (Ross), Brianna Peterson; four great- grandchildren Hank Fuller, Briggs Fuller, Millie Baker, Hayes Baker. A number of great nieces and nephew.
