Reverend Wayne Lee Northey

Reverend Wayne Lee Northey of Kinston, AL entered into his eternal home after a brief illness on June 17, 2019. He was 84. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2019, at West County Line Baptist Church in Opp, AL. The family will receive friends at the church Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continuing until time of service. Reverend Northey was born July 5, 1934 to the late Charlie and Lucy Mae Northey. He is preceded in death by his son, Matthew Northey. Wayne was a devoted minister to churches throughout South Alabama to include Brundidge, Elba, River Falls, Opp and Samson. He also established the Philadelphia Christian Center. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Eloise Colquett Northey; daughters, Cindy (Wesley) Miller of Powder Springs, GA and Abbie Catrett of Opp, AL; sons, Sam (John) Northey of Ellijay, GA and David (Stacie) Northey of Chipley, FL; grandchildren: Ryan and Jessica King, Kim and Pete Frey, Jeffrey and Rona Miller, Michael, Kinsley, Marley and Madison Catrett, Tabreena and Chris Eubanks, Kristina and Patrick Worley, Brandon Walker, Allison Peterson, Chelsea and Taylor Russ, Jenna and Kaegan Shelley and Paxton Jensen; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters, Laura Weeks King, Juanita (Jim) Blocker and Judy (Larry) Weaver. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Mission Dignity, Assisting Retired Ministers and Spouses, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 2000, Dallas, TX 75244.
