Retired Major Christopher Thomas Greene

Retired Major Christopher Thomas Greene passed away Saturday, September 21, 2024. He was 85.

Funeral services with full military honors will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home with Reverend Jim Duhaime officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Enterprise directing. The family will receive friends on Wednesday prior to the service beginning at 10:00 am and continuing until service time.

Mr. Greene was born in West Virginia, to the late Desmond H. and Ethel M. Greene. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Ruth Nan Clyburn Greene; son, Christopher Thomas Greene II; brother, Desmond H. Greene, Jr.; and an infant sister.

He is survived by his children, Michael Greene (Yvette) of Salem, Alabama, and Susan Drain (Michael) of Birmingham; daughter-in-law, Greta R. Greene; nine grandchildren, Tucker, Brenden, Calen, Lydia, Grace, Trey, Mason, Sarah, and Lauren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Greene was a devoted member of Hillcrest Baptist Church for many years, and he was a smart, wise man who took seriously his Christian convictions. Because of this he was a role model to many in commitment and service. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force and Army as a pilot, which inspired his passion for airplanes and flying. Above all else, he loved his family. He was a devoted husband to Ruth for over 55 years, leaving his family a legacy of commitment, dedication, and love.
