Ret. Msg Herbert "Pete" Jerkins

Ret. MSG Herbert L. (Pete) Jerkins, of New Brockton, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2019 at the family residence. He was 74. Funeral services, with full military honors, will be at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Sorrells Funeral Home in Enterprise with Reverend Howard Moore officiating. Graveside services will be Sunday, April 14, 2019 at 2:00 pm. EST in the Lynn Family Cemetery in Donalsonville, GA with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday beginning at 5:00 p.m. and continuing until time of service. Pete was born January 19, 1945 in Donalsonville, GA to the late Earl and Audrey Jerkins. He is preceded in death by one brother. He retired from the U.S. Army as a Master Sergeant after serving 20 years with the 347th MED-DET.  As a civilian, he retired from the U.S. Army Aviation as a Training Specialist for OH-58D after 21 years. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Carol Ann Jerkins; children: Herbert L. Jerkins, II of TN, Russell A. Jerkins of TN, Charles Barber of New Brockton, AL and Carolyn (Wade) Duncan of New Brockton, AL; sister, Mavis Bacon (Don) of Pembroke, GA; grandchildren: Kyle Jerkins, Jason Jerkins, Tommy Stroud, Alan Duncan, Cody Barber and Savanna Dowling; great-grandchild, Hudson Dowling; nephews: David Bacon and William Bacon; great-nephews: Nicholas Bacon and Cody Bacon and great-niece, Courtney Bacon.
