Peggy Fremd

Peggy Fremd, age 82, of Daleville, Alabama, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, August 9, 2026.

A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 123 Heath Street, Enterprise, with Father Zachary Greenwell officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday evening, August 17, 2026, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM.

Peggy was born March 21, 1944, at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, to the late Theodore and Paula Sargent Fremd. Peggy grew up in New York and Colorado before joining the Army in 1968. She served stateside and overseas in Germany and was medically retired in 1981. She attained the rank of Sergeant First Class (E7) as a computer programmer.

After retirement Peggy did many jobs, including one of her favorites, running the Coffee County Lake. She enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time outdoors. Peggy had the biggest heart for family, friends, and everyone she came in contact with. She was a charter member of the “On the Go Club,” loving to travel and always up for a road trip anywhere. A favorite trip was a two week cruise to Alaska.

She is survived by her sister, Teresa Donahue; brother, Theodore Fremd (Skyler); niece, Christine Schelski (Tom); great-nephews, Seamas, Sully, and Rory Schelske; nephews, John Donahue and Brian Donahue (Kelli); great-nephew, Oliver Donahue; and many friends who loved her as family.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Pat Donahue.

The family thanks her caregivers, Cheryl, Val, Pepper, Grace, and Kat who, because of their devotion, enabled Peggy to remain in her own home, which she wanted. Without their selfless care, this would not have been possible. Thank you also to DaySpring Hospice for their help.
