Throughout her amazing 81 years, Peggy held many roles: daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, friend, grandma, Sunday School teacher, WMU leader, baker/cook, and world traveler to name a few. In every role, she touched the lives of those around her with love, compassion, and grace, and she poured into her family, friends, and church. Often you would find her in the kitchen either preparing her famous lasagna, sour dough bread, or some delicious coconut cake, Bay Point cake, or oatmeal cookies. She was gifted in a lot of things, but cooking was at the top of the list.

At the age of 18, Peggy met 21-year-old Army serviceman, David Clinansmith, in Enterprise, Alabama. After just 3 months of dating, they were married on Oct 6, 1961, at Ino Baptist Church. Over the next 35 years, as Dave served in the Army, they lived at multiple stations including Colorado, Georgia, Germany, and North Carolina, always with the plan to retire in Enterprise, Alabama, their beloved hometown. Along the way, Peggy and Dave formed life-long friendships that they cherished throughout their journey.

Peggy’s devotion to the church has been evident through the years. She gave selflessly of her time, supporting and loving those she encountered. She left behind a legacy of how to live life to the fullest by putting God first and living out her faith.

Her life was rich with hobbies that included spending time with friends, traveling, attending Red Hat luncheons, sorority functions, and also organizing family gatherings. She was supportive of her daughter, Carla, son-in-law, Chuck, and grandson, Cameron. She loved attending her grandson’s interests such as baseball and band concerts. She was proud of him working to become a pilot.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, David Clinansmith; her parents, Aaron and Rochelle Davis; her brothers, Culon P. Davis, Don L. Davis, Wayne Davis, Waylon Davis, Jackie Davis, Jerry Davis, Mike Davis; and sisters, Ellen Stewart and Mary Thornton.

Survivors include her daughter Carla Clinansmith Franklin (Chuck); brother, John Davis; and grandson, Cameron Franklin. Peggy leaves behind a close extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
