Olivia “Lib” Mitchell, age 72, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2025. Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, June 6, 2025, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory, with Reverend Don Cobble officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Enterprise directing. Burial will follow at Meadowlawn Cemetery in Enterprise. The family invites friends to gather starting at 10AM, prior to the service at the funeral home to celebrate and remember the incredible life of Lib Mitchell.
Lib was born in Fort Payne, Alabama, to the late Wyatt and Lena Mitchell. She was a proud member of Pine Grove Methodist Church and a beloved presence in every room she entered. She was a talented singer with a special talent for harmonizing with anyone.
To know Lib was to know laughter, joy, and an unforgettable personality. She was larger than life—truly one of a kind. Her sense of humor was unmatched, her generosity endless, and her love for people undeniable. She had a magnetic spirit that drew others in and made them feel like old friends.
Lib was passionate about many things, including Auburn football, her faithful dogs Dolly and Noodle, and—perhaps most famously—ketchup. Whether at home, with friends, or in the community, she brought light and laughter wherever she went.
She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. Her memory will live on in the stories, smiles, and moments she created. She is survived by her daughters, Jodi Hopper (Jesse McCants) and Heather Moore (Barry); her grandchildren, Jeremy Crook (Brittany), Kathleen Whitfield (Jack), Claudia Faulkner (Garrett), Jeb Moore, Barrett Hopper (Rachel); and two great-grandchildren, Alys and Liam. Lib also leaves behind her sibings, Beverly Dendy, Mona Johnian, and Curtis Gene Mitchell (Patricia), and a number of nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Sherry McCormick for her care and friendship.
Lib was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Kathryn Mitchell and Sharon Wooten; and her brothers, Harold Dean Mitchell and WB Mitchell, Jr.; as well as the father of her children, Jimmy Hopper.
Flowers and/or memorial contributions to the House of Ruth at P.O. Box 968 Dothan, AL 36302 are equally welcome.
