Gene Mozzo

Gene Mozzo, 87, passed peacefully from this life on November 11, 2025, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. Gene was born on July 10, 1938, in Woodville, Texas, to the late Nealy and Alma Riley.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance on Friday November 14, 2025 morning from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. to honor her life and legacy at Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel.

Gene dedicated her life to caring for others. As a devoted nurse, she served faithfully for many years in nursing homes and assisted living communities, treating each patient with compassion and dignity. Her gentle heart extended beyond her patients to her family and even the animals she cared for with love.

She was proud to be the wife of an Air Force veteran and the mother and grandmother of children and grandchildren who carried on a family tradition of military service in the Army, Air Force, and Marines. Gene’s devotion to both family and country was a hallmark of her life.

In her quieter moments, Gene found joy in the simple pleasure of reading, a good book was always close at hand.

In addition to her parents, Gene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Frank Mozzo, and two sisters, Ellen Miller and Betty Hines.

She is lovingly survived by her children: Terry Karmelin (Curly), William Mozzo (Patty), Judy Taiclet (Chet), and Anna Kupinski (Bob); eleven grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Gene’s life was a beautiful reflection of service, compassion, and love. Her caring spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
