Margaret Odom Wesley, age 89, of Enterprise, Alabama, passed away leaving behind a legacy of faith, hard work, and love for family.
Margaret was born on August 16, 1936, in Black, Alabama. She grew up learning the value of hard work at an early age as the daughter of sharecroppers. Those early years shaped her character and instilled in her a deep appreciation for perseverance and diligence.
She had a love for strawberries, wildflowers, crossword puzzles, and great stories—interests that led to a lifelong love of reading. Margaret also enjoyed ice cream; strawberry ice cream was the best; and spending time in the sun. No matter the season of life, she remained a hard worker who poured herself into everything she did.
Margaret loved her husband deeply and, above all, loved her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a devoted member of Faithview Church. One of her greatest joys was caring for her family, especially through cooking. Her banana pudding was well known and dearly loved by family and friends alike.
Margaret attended Troy University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree an accomplishment she valued greatly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Evonne Odom, Betty Odom, and Anne Marie Rhoten; as well as her brother, McNeil Odom.
She is survived by her children, Richard Moore, David Barrentine (Amy), Teresa Forehand (Charlie), and Charlotte Macomber; fourteen grandchildren, Cierra (Tarmar), Nikki (Devin), Ashley, Alexandria, Emma, Makayla, Madison, Christian, Landon, Amanda, Wade, Makenna, Kaiden, and Jonas; seventeen great-grandchildren; her brothers, Joe Odom, Raymond Odom, and Lex Odom; and her sister, Bessie Randal.
Margaret Odom Wesley will be remembered for her strong faith, tireless work ethic, love for learning, and the warmth she shared with all who knew her. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 2 PM. Burial will follow at Meadowlawn Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 PM until 2 PM.
