Mae Tom “Tommie” Snell, 80, a lifelong resident of Coffee County, Alabama, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2024, in Enterprise, Alabama.
Born on March 17, 1944, to Leroy and Gladys Money in Geneva County, Tommie lived a life full of love, laughter, and culinary passion. A devoted member of the Chancellor Assembly of God Church, Tommie found joy in her faith and community. She cherished her family above all, often expressing her love through her kitchen. A gifted cook, she dedicated many years to serving the public, delighting countless patrons with her delicious meals. Her passion for cooking extended to collecting and reading cookbooks, a hobby that brought her immense joy.
Tommie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly 40 years, Thomas Ellis Snell, her daughter Kathy Mathews-Watson, son Jeffery “John” Mathews, as well as her parents, and two brothers Jackie and Ike Money.
She is survived by her daughter, Darlene Mock; her sons, Don Snell (Cersha) and Jerry Snell (Amanda); her brother, Mack Money; and her cherished grandchildren, Rusty Barefoot (Karen), Jessica Albritton, Jasmine Snell, Justine Snell Childers, Ashlyn Senn (Jessie), Lizzie Snell, Tyler Irvine (Emily), Kirsten Irvine, and Jenna Irvine. Great-grandson Seth Barefoot and 14 other great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 4PM on Friday, September 13, 2024, with Reverend Cliff Quincey and Tony Barnes officiating. Sorrells Funeral Home of Enterprise directing. Interment will be at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Clayhatchee, Alabama. Flowers and/or memorial contributions to Tommie’s family are equally welcome.
Tommie will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her kindness and her culinary talents. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and devotion that will continue to inspire those who knew her. The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Enterprise Health and Rehab staff, as well as the dedicated team at Daysprings Hospice. Your compassionate caregiving and unwavering support have made a profound difference in the lives of those you serve. Your commitment to excellence and empathy truly shines through in every aspect of your work. Thank you for all that you do!
