Lorene A Carr Ivey

Lorene A. Carr Ivey, age 85, of Coffee County, Alabama, went home to be with her Savior on October 4, 2025. She was born on June 1, 1940, in Coffee County, Alabama, the daughter of the late Melvin and Irene Allen.

Lorene attended New Home Baptist Church, where she loved worshiping and serving. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her church, and her friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Johnny Carr and T.F. “Billy” Ivey; her parents; sister Idell Jones; brothers Tolbert Allen and Lamar Allen; granddaughter Mandy Lopez and stepdaughter Rachel Norwood.

She is survived by her sons John Carr (Teresa) and David Carr (Theresa); stepchildren Joe Ivey (Marilyn) and Huey Norwood.

Her grandchildren include Beverly Bond (Ryan), Charlie Bass (Amberlee), LaShea Washam, Trent Carr, Travis Carr, Amanda Lunsford (Chuck), Craig Ivey (Sara), and Michelle Rogers. She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She leaves behind her sister Annie Simmons (Calvin) and brother James Allen (Carol), along with many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Cliff Quincy officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lorene’s memory to New Home Baptist Church at 43 Co Rd 620, Enterprise, AL 36330 .
