Joyce W. Sanders

Joyce W. Sanders , age 81, of Elba Alabama passed away on Tuesday the 2nd of July 2024 at her home. She was born on December 3, 1942 in Coffee County Alabama to the late Curt and Daisy Wallace.

Joyce was a devoted member of Cornerstone Bible Church in Elba, Alabama and loved the Lord with all of her heart, making God a daily priority. She also served with honor in the Alabama National Guard. Through her career, she worked as a beautician, owning her own salon, Joyce’s Beauty Salon, where she touched the lives of many through her talent and care. Joyce had a passion for gardening and treasured time spent with her family. Her vibrant spirit and infectious joy ensured that those around her always had a good time.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 22 years, Abner Sanders of Elba, Alabama; her son, Donald Wayne Smith, Jr. (Debbie) of Coffee Springs, Alabama, daughter Debra Smith of New Brockton, Alabama, and son Theron C. Smith of Wichita, Kansas; siblings Peggy Rogers (Bill), Doug Wallace (Ann), and Diane Holloway (Marion). She is also survived by her six grandchildren: Brandy Smith (John), Heather Acreman (Brandon), Daisy Tovar (Becket), Alyssa Hayes (Airen), Ronnie Furniss (Heather), and Delana Brannon (Garrett). Additionaly, Joyce leaves behind 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Joyce will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home at 10AM on Monday the 8th of July 2024, visitation will be one hour prior to service. Interment will be at Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery in Elba.
