Joe W. Guthrie

Joe W. Guthrie of Chancellor, Alabama passed away Sunday, March 3, 2024. He was 72.

Memorial Services will be at 11AM, Saturday, March 9, 2024 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10AM until service time.

Mr. Guthrie was born in Jackson, Mississippi on the 6th of January 1952 to Joseph Herman and Margaret Killen Guthrie who both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth Ray Guthrie and Herman Keith Guthrie.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years Becky Guthrie, daughter Katie Guthrie Agnew (John) and three beautiful granddaughters; Tessa, Brenna, and Gemma.

Joe served 22 years in the U.S. Army including tours in Vietnam and Desert Storm. He was the JROTC instructor at Daleville High School for 24 years. There is no doubt that he loved God, country and his family.
