Jimmy Wood, age 88, of Enterprise, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 19, 2025, surrounded by the love and presence of his family.

A man known for his quiet strength, steady kindness, and unwavering devotion to those he loved, Jimmy lived a life marked by integrity, generosity, and hard work. He was the kind of man who never met a stranger, and whose word was as solid as his handshake. Whether through a smile, a story, or a helping hand, he left an impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Jimmy served as a Deacon in his church, Lee Street Baptist, and worked as the Director of Operations at Fort Rucker for 50 years.

Jimmy Moved to Enterprise at the age of 17, where he then built a legacy rooted in family, faith, and community. He was a devoted husband for 68 years, a faithful friend, and a pillar of strength to many. His deep love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life, and his greatest joy was found in the moments spent with them, especially at home, where his presence brought comfort and warmth.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia Wood, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership. Their bond was an enduring testament to loyalty, compassion, and grace. He is also survived by his sons, Lamar Wood and Greg Wood, and his grandsons, Zac Wood (Abbey) and Spencer Wood.

The impact of Jimmy’s life will echo through the generations he touched, and his memory will be cherished by all who had the honor of walking beside him.

Graveside services will be at Meadowlawn Cemetery on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at 1PM with Pastor Slade Stinson officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory directing. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 12:00 until 12:45 PM at Lee Street Baptist Church.
