JC “Jack” Ward, of Elba, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2019. He was 90. Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Ino Baptist Church with Reverend Garry Winstead and Reverend Hubert McWaters officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 1:00 p.m. and continuing until time of service. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home directing. Jack was born October 11, 1928 in Sanford, Alabama to the late James and Bertie Ward. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean War. As a lifetime resident of the Ino Community he was a farmer; he served as a Deacon for 40 years at Ino Baptist Church and was a member of the Leverett Masonic Lodge and Gideons International as well as a faithful husband for 66 years to Betty Ward. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Offie, Grover and Thomas Ward; sisters: MaeBelle Daniels and Jewell Smith Survivors include his wife, Betty Ward; daughter, Evelyn Ward Zuhse (Daniel) of Huntsville, AL; son, Dennis Eugene Ward (Norma Bacon) of Elba, AL, son Kenneth Ward (Rhonda) of Elba, AL; son, Michael Ward (Michelle) of Altha, FL; son, Mark Ward (Donna) of Elba, AL; brother Edward Ralph Ward of Samson, AL; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
