Janice Rosetta “Mealer” Mims, age 77, of Enterprise, Alabama, passed away Tuesday morning, September 10, 2019, at her residence. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 13, 2019 at Sorrells Funeral Home in Enterprise with Kenneth Cromer (son-in-law) officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Gallion, AL with Sorrells Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continuing until time of service. She was born April 18, 1942, in Jefferson County, a daughter of the late Samuel Herbert Mealer and Vernie Rosetta Gilham. Janice is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Jimmie Richard Mims; daughter, Deborah Ann; brother, Bo Mealer and sister, Betty Gibbs. Janice was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially with her grandchildren. She was known for her kindness and patience; however, she quickly took on the fierceness of a lioness when protecting her children from harm. Janice enjoyed family gatherings and had an adventurous nature - always willing to join in on road trips. She enjoyed good conversation during family gatherings showing quick wit which kept all participants entertained and a smile on her face. Throughout her life, she remained non-judgmental, always looking for a silver lining in those she met. She had a tender soul and a heart of gold; she will be greatly missed by all – but most definitely by her family. She is survived by her daughters: Nancy Robertson (Scott) of Enterprise, AL, Joy Cromer (Ken) of Crestview, FL and Myra Merritt (Ricky) of Auburn, AL; brother, Thomas Mealer of Adamsville, AL; sister Faye Phillips of Graysville, AL; grandchildren: Elizabeth, Stephen, Tyler, Emily, Austin, Pamela, Randi, Kelly, Kimberly, William and Lauren; great-grandchildren, Mason, Angela, Ethan, Stephen, Alexis, Tony, Skyler, Jasmine, Jayden, Victoria, Eli, Oliver and Sylas; great-great-grandchildren: Kaylee, Wyatt, Jamie, Emmalina and Jairo.
