Janice Elaine (Gordon) Kerrigan

Ms. Janice Elaine Kerrigan passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024 in her home in Enterprise, Alabama. She passed as she lived her life, worrying about the happiness of those she loved.

Janice, born in Somerville, Massachusetts to Kenneth C. and Eleanor A. Gordon moved to Hingham, Massachusetts early in life. Hingham, Janice's, always and forever true home is where she met and grew up with her one true love, her husband of 20 years (divorced), George J. Kerrigan (deceased) and began lifelong friendships with Donna Chisholm (cousin), Ruth Elaine Cleveland and many others.

Janice followed and supported her ex-husband, George Kerrigan, throughout his 20 year Army career. It was during this time that she joined the workforce and was fortunate to find a career that was perfect for her caring and compassionate nature. Janice worked in Family Housing for more than 20 years. During that time she worked for The Department of the Army, Family Housing Branch, Ft. Rucker, Alabama, The United States Navy, Housing Branch, NAS S. Weymouth, Massachusetts, and the US. Department of Homeland Security United States Coast Guard, Housing Branch, S. Weymouth, Massachusetts. Janice received innumerable certificates and rewards in recognition of her ability to empathize with service members and their families, always admiring her willingness to do everything in her power to ensure that their transition into the local community was as smooth and pleasant as possible.

Janice is survived by her daughter Betty A. Mattice (Greg), her granddaughter, Chasity L. Longsworth, her great-grandchildren, Leanne Elaine Longsworth and Fenway Ryder Longsworth. Janice was predeceased by her son, Kenneth James Kerrigan. She is survived by his wife Tammy Kerrigan, her grandchildren Tanner Kerrigan, Cassady Braughton, Kayla Kerrigan, Janice Lynn Seagal (Robert), her great-grandchildren Aden Kerrigan, Aspen Kerrigan, Memphis Kerrigan, Cade Kirkland, Grantt Kirkland, Coeson Braughton, Brixson Braughton, Aceson Braughton, and Hartlyn Kerrigan.

Janice made friends everywhere she went and she treasured those friendships throughout her life. Of the many friends Janice held dear, Cheryl Spicer, Alabama, Art and Alice Scholl, Alaska, Bill (deceased) and Marian, Florida, Becky Rittenhouse, Kansas, Vida Trahan, Louisiana, and An-g Davis-McCoy, Maryland, all held a special place in her heart, remembering and speaking of them often in her last days. Janice loved and cherished everyone she met. Never forgetting to remind us to let everyone, including the cashiers at Bojangles and the counter help at Sessions Cleaners, know that she was thinking of them and hoped to see them soon.
