James “Rickey” Hataway

Mr. James “Rickey” Hataway, of Elba, died on Monday, February 26, 2024. Rickey was 68 years old.

A memorial services will be held at 2PM on Sunday, March 3rd at Mount Gilead with Pastors Dewey Emfinger and Dale Hataway officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30PM until service time.

Rickey was born September 17, 1955, in Coffee County Alabama. He was a talented craftsman doing flooring for all of his career. He was all about people and was loved by many including people who adopted him as their own.

Survivors include his companion of twelve years, Lejune Davis and her family, which became his family. Son Gary Davis (Wendy), granddaughter Mallori Reeves (Jake) and Rickey’s pride and joy Kip, who called him “Rick Rick”. Rickey is also survived by three brothers: Tommy Hataway (Marion), Ronnie Hataway (Tammie), and Mark Hataway (Angie). He had many nieces and nephews. Rickey was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers.
