Horace "Gene" Greene

Horace Eugene Greene, known as Gene to his family and friends, passed away August 22, 2024, at the age of 88.

A memorial service with military honors will be held Monday, September 9, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home of Enterprise with Reverend Charles Goldsmith officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continuing until service time. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Gentiva Hospice of Dothan at www.gentivahs.com.

Gene was born May 21, 1936 to the late Horace and Francis Shirley Greene. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Gloria Greene, and several brothers and sisters.

Mr. Greene proudly served his country for over 20 years in the United States Air Force serving in military intelligence. He was a man of many talents, even building his own home from the ground up. He also took much joy in farming and training horses, especially Mustangs.

He is survived by his children, Billy Joe Greene (Pamela) of Ozark, Connie Kelley-Klein of Pensacola, Florida, Dorothy LaPorte (Mason) of Navarre, Florida, Marie Agrinzoni (Sinuhe) of Huntsville, Alabama, and Cindy Harrison (Josh) of El Paso, Texas; twenty-two grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
