George Clark Ishee, Sr.

George Clark Ishee, Sr., age 96, departed this life late Saturday night, June 13, 2026, during a brief stay at Encompass Rehabilitation. He was born in Laurel, Mississippi, on October 30, 1929.

Mr. Ishee had been a resident of Enterprise, Alabama, for over 66 years and was retired from a long career as an aircraft mechanic at Fort Rucker, Alabama. Previous to his career as an aircraft mechanic, he had proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.

He leaves behind his beautiful wife of almost 76 years, Althea Nell “Peg” Andrews Ishee; a son, George Clark Ishee, Jr.; and daughters, Mary Ishee Strickland (Ned) and Elizabeth A. Ishee. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Ishee is preceded in death by his parents, Clark Jefferson “CJ” and Lucille Pittmas Ishee, and daughters, Debra Anita Ishee Martins and Wendy Lee Ishee Shaw.

There will be a private funeral on Thursday, June 18, 2026. Pallbearers will be George Clark Ishee, Jr., Ned E. Strickland, Brandon Paul Strickland, Jacob Shaw, Zachary Shaw, and Clark Ishee, III. Burial will follow at Meadowlawn Cemetery in Enterprise.
