George William Clark IV, Lieutenant Colonel, United States Army (Retired) passed away Thursday, July 6, 2023, in Enterprise. He was 66.
A Funeral Mass with cremation to follow will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Zachary Greenwell officiating. The family will receive friends at Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory in Enterprise on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm.
George was born November 2, 1956, in New York to the late George William and Rose Cavalieri Clark. George was an Infantry Officer in the US Army, serving his country for 26 years and deploying in support of combat operations in the Middle East. Following his military service, he served as the Senior Army Instructor at Lyman Ward Academy in Camp Hill, Alabama, for two years. He then led the Enterprise High School JROTC Program as the Senior Army Instructor in Enterprise, Alabama, for eleven years, leaving an immeasurable impact on the Enterprise community. Upon retirement, George enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and spending time with his family, three grandsons, and his beloved dogs.
Survivors include his wife, Suzanne Clark; son, George Clark V (Becky Clark); daughter, Dr. Caroline Clark Amonson (MAJ Kyle Amonson); grandchildren: Charlie Clark, Cooper Clark, and Clark Amonson. George is also survived by his sisters, Virginia, Margaret, and Joan, and several nieces and nephews.
