Gary Linton Wilkins

Gary Linton Wilkins, of Enterprise, Alabama, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on June 4, 1949, in Coffee County, Alabama, Gary was a dedicated entrepreneur, a passionate horseman, and a beloved family man whose life was rooted in the values of faith, friendship, and the love of rodeo.

Throughout his life, Gary established and grew several successful businesses across Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas, creating lifelong friendships along the way. His true joy came from all things related to horses, rodeos, and music. An accomplished drummer, he enjoyed making music with his family and friends, sharing with those around him. In his later years, Gary dedicated himself to helping others enjoy the world of roping, riding, and rodeoing, inspiring many with his enthusiasm and knowledge.

Gary was known for his signature boots, Wrangler jeans, shiny belt buckle, and cowboy hat, always wearing a big grin that reflected his warm and generous spirit.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Grace Wilkins, and his brother, George "Glen" Wilkins. He is survived by his children, Shawn Wilkins (Ashli) and Miranda Noles (Chad), along with their mother, Debbie Wilkins. His siblings Guy Wilkins (Angie), Mike Wilkins (Melissa), and Jean Mitchell (Robert) and sister-in-law, Dorothy Wilkins. Gary’s grandchildren, Slade Wilkins, Jade Sims, Evie Wilkins, Allie Simmons (Trey), and Samson Noles, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, will cherish his memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Gary’s memory to Damascus Baptist Church, 774 County Road 547, Elba, Alabama 36323.

Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Friday morning, May 2, 2025, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory with Reverend Mike Medley officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at New Haven Church Cemetery 4446 County Road 410 Elba, Alabama 36323.

Gary’s infectious smile, love of life, and dedication to his family and friends will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
