Frieda Martz

Mrs. Frieda Martz of Enterprise, Alabama, passed away at her residence on June 24, 2026. She was 86 years old.

A memorial service will be held on July 10, 2026, at 10:00 AM at New Vision Baptist Church of Murfreesboro, TN, where she was faithful member for many years. Pastor Phillip Robinson and Pastor Brady Cooper will be officiating the memorial service. A committal service will be held at a later date in July for Frieda and her late husband, Rick Martz, at Meadowlawn Cemetery in Enterprise, Alabama.

God introduced Frieda to this world on May 11, 1940, in Fulda, Germany to parents, William and Anna Rubsam. She is preceded in death by her parents; nine brothers and sisters; and her loving husband of 54 years, Richard Martz.

The days of hard times in war-torn Germany helped mold the strong, resilient person Frieda would become. She was the 10th of eleven children. As American Servicemen were stationed in Germany, CW4 Richard “Rick” Martz met Frieda, and the romance began. They married in 1961, and God blessed them with the four children: Robert “Robbie” Martz (JC) of Harwood, MD, Ralph Martz (Elida) of Enterprise, AL, Ronald “Ronnie” Martz (Theisha) of Odessa, Texas, and Angela Page (James) of La Vergne, TN.

Survivors include her youngest sister, Rose Marie of Hanau, Germany; four children; six grandchildren, John, Victoria, Jessica, Jaime, Jeana, and Hannah; her little “Puppy Girl” Mimi; best friends, Vicky, David, Tammy, and Lori; and decades of blessed, loving, and caring church family and friends.

Frieda was a loving, supportive wife to Rick, often carrying out the role of mom AND dad. After his military service, Rick held a critical role working for the Federal Aviation Administration and traveled often. The Lord called Rick home in 2014.

The years that the Lord gave Frieda in this life were filled with many labors of love for Him, for family, and for friends. Her joy came from serving in many areas. She loved and was accomplished at painting, gardening, baking, and decorating. She loved to serve children, especially children with special needs, and they loved her. In this life she loved singing in her church choir and is now singing in Heaven’s choir.

Frieda’s sense of humor was so infectious that it would make you laugh at the most inopportune times. Frieda’s physical statue was only 4’8”, and even less on the days that her chronic back pain was so unbearable that she could not stand straight, but she lived life from the heart of a giant. Her passing leaves a void to which she would want her loved ones to fill with loving and serving others.
