Fred Coley Layton

Fred Coley Layton, of Enterprise, Alabama, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2023 at his residence surrounded by family. He was 84.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Faith Assembly of God Church in Enterprise, Alabama with Reverend Billy Cardwell officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Enterprise directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday prior to the service beginning at 10:00 am and continuing until service time.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife of more than 50 years Annie Drinkard Layton, as well as two sons Michael Roy Layton and Jeffrey Layton.

Fred served his church as a Deacon, loved his family and Alabama Football, he also loved to talk to everyone which helped in his career in sales.

Survivors include his wife Martha Layton, daughter Kimberly Sherling, his sister Elaine Anderson and his brother Ray Layton. Fred is also survived by four grandchildren Liza Layton, Courtney Layton, Stephanie Sherling and John Sherling III.
