Faye Howell Stewart

Faye Howell Stewart, age 85, of Chancellor, Alabama, passed away peacefully at her home on March 18, 2026.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home, with Karl Hudson and Phil Cooley officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowlawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Stewart was the daughter of the late Louie Frank and Jessie Lee Howell. She was a faithful member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and a longtime member of the Pilot Club. Faye found great joy in serving others, whether helping with parties, feeding children during Vacation Bible School, or simply spending time visiting with friends over lunch at the Good To Go.

She also enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, including watching Wheel of Fortune (with no interruptions), cheering on Alabama football, and never hesitating to “put her money where her mouth was” from time to time.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charlie Stewart; her daughter, Lynda Culpepper; and three brothers, Joe Howell, Jerry Howell and a baby brother that she never got to know.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda S. Washington; two grandchildren, Jessica Stage (Chris) and Hunter M. Reeves (Ashleigh); one great-granddaughter, Mary-Michael Grace Reeves; one brother, Shang Howell (Jill), niece, Katie Lee Howell; Mike and Kathy Reeves, and other nieces and nephews.
