Emily Ann Roberts

Emily Ann Roberts (41), of New Brockton, Alabama, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus and won her victory over Stage IV metastatic breast cancer on June 7, 2025, with her loving husband and family by her side.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 2:00 PM at HighPointe Church in Enterprise with Pastor Derek Williams and Pastor Greg Cotter officiating. Burial will follow at Richburg Cemetery in New Brockton with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 12:00 to 2:00 PM.

Emily was born on June 2, 1984, and was raised by her loving guardians Bo and Merle Smith, her Papa and Nana. A proud graduate of New Brockton High School, Emily began dating her high school sweetheart, Zach Roberts in 1998, and they later wed on June 29, 2006.

Emily went on to study Elementary Education at Troy State University and then received her graduate degree in school counseling. Emily dedicated 15 years to shaping young minds in the Coffee County School System where she taught at New Brockton Elementary and where she completed her career as the school counselor at Zion Chapel School.

Zach and Emily’s greatest joys in life were their two children, Austin (12) and Lily Kate (7). Emily’s love knew no bounds—she was devoted to God, her husband, her children, and her cherished dog Rosie, as well as her family, friends, and the community she held dear.

Emily’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. After giving her heart to Christ at an early age, she walked in unwavering trust, even in life’s hardest moments. When she was diagnosed in the summer of 2021, she embraced her journey with courage and grace, believing that cancer was not the focus—Jesus was. Her response to suffering reflected God’s love, and through it, she inspired others to find strength in Him.

Emily is preceded in death by her guardians, Bo and Merle Smith (Papa and Nana), and her maternal grandparents, Phillip and Doloris Doty. Emily leaves behind a loving family including her husband, Zachary Roberts of New Brockton; children, Austin Bibb Roberts and Lily Kate Roberts; mother-in-love, Debbie Roberts of New Brockton; father-in-love, Keith Roberts of New Brockton; sisters, Patsy Edwards (Jonathan) and Katy Grace Coppola (James); brothers, Josh Smith (Amber) and Tyler Smith (Mechella); aunts, Catrina Arnold (Joey) and Donna McLendon (Dale); uncles, Bobby Smith (Symantha) and Tim Smith (Christy); four nieces; five nephews; numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles; her HighPointe Church family; and many brothers and sisters in Christ in her loving community. Everyone will forever cherish her memory.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Cancer Freeze Florala, Alabama, Pilots for Christ, Coffee County School System, Altrusa of Jack, Alabama, or to a fund benefiting the Roberts’ children that will be set up at All In Credit Union.

Emily would want nothing more than for her life—and even her passing—to point others to the hope she found in Jesus. The same faith that carried her through every trial is available to all. She would lovingly invite you to seek Him and know the peace that comes from giving your heart to Christ, just as she did.

In keeping with Emily’s wish, guests are encouraged to wear pink or something floral to her service, if they can—both a nod to her vibrant spirit and a tribute to the courage with which she faced breast cancer. Pink was more than her favorite color; it was the color of her fight, her faith, and her victory.
