Elmer Earl ”Top” Leger

Elmer Earl ”Top”  Leger, of Coffee Springs, Alabama went to his heavenly home on July 12, 2023 while at HCA West Florida Hospital in Pensacola, Florida after a brief illness. He was 79.

Funeral Services will be Sunday, July 16, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Cardwell and Rev. Royce Morrow officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 4p.m. to 6p.m. at Sorrells funeral home in Enterprise, Alabama.

Mr. Leger was born December 22, 1943 in Coffee Springs, Alabama to the late Elmer Byrd Leger and Rosie Kyser. Mr. Leger was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas R. “Tom” Leger and one brother –in- law Haywood Norwood.

Mr. Leger served his country in the 65th Army Engineers 25th Division from 1966- 1967 and fought in the Vietnam War. He was a proud member of Plumbers and Steamfitters local Union 52 in Montgomery, Alabama for 49 years. He retired in 2003 and became a full time Papa. He was a devoted husband; father, brother, papa and friend to many.

He survived by his wife of 52 years, Vonnie Senn Leger of Coffee Springs, Alabama; daughter Felita Leger of Coffee Springs, Alabama; son, Gregory E. Leger (Jelena) of Dothan, Alabama; six granddaughters: Savannah Leger Griffin (Zack), Magazine, Arkansas; Averee Crosby of Coffee Springs, Alabama; Alexis Leger of Dothan, Alabama; Laney Crosby of Coffee Springs, Alabama; Caroline Leger of Dothan, Alabama; Taylor Leger of Dothan, Alabama; great-grandson, Zane G. Griffin of Magazine, Arkansas; step-grandson, Spencer Crosby (Camery) of Geneva, Alabama; step great-granddaughter, Spencer Kohen Crosby of Geneva, Alabama; brother, Billy R. “Bill” Leger (Martha) of Midland City, Alabama; four sisters, Mary Leger of Coffee Springs, Alabama; Jeanette Leger of Coffee Springs, Alabama; Audrey Leger of Coffee Springs, Alabama; Juanita Norwood of Coffee Springs, Alabama; sister-in-law, Gladys Leger of Coffee Springs, Alabama; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
