Edna Geraldine (Kyser) Smith

Edna Geraldine Smith (Kyser), aged 91, passed away on July 18, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Her funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 21, 2024 at 2:00 pm, at the Gridertown Church of Christ, located at 19286 Hornhill Rd., Opp, Alabama. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm and continuing until service time.

Edna was born on December 14, 1932, in Opp, Alabama, to the late Lonnie Joe and Ludie Kyser. Her family roots in this country trace back to the 17th century, with relatives reaching the new world in 1620. Edna learned the value of hard work and dedication, which led her to a fulfilling career as a seamstress for the Van Heusen Company until her retirement. However, her true calling in life was her passion for helping others. Known for her loving and kind nature, Edna had a radiant smile that could light up any room and bring joy to all who encountered it.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry J. Smith, her siblings Kermit Kyser, Kernice Kyser, Tom Kyser, Evelyn Kelly, and a special grandson, Andrew Smith.

Edna is survived by her children Lonnie Smith, Jerry Smith (Cathy), and Shirley Langford (Mike). She is also survived by her sisters Marie Keith, Linda McCart (Donny), and brother Cecil Kyser. Edna leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion through her 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Edna K Smith will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but her spirit and legacy of kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
