Eddie "Don" Jackson

Mr. Eddie “Don” Jackson, 75, a resident of Elba, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Enterprise Medical Center on January 2, 2023.  A Celebration of Life service with military honors will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 6, 2023, at Vanderbilt Holiness Church, 2287 County Road 114 Jack, Alabama, with Pastor Tommy Hartzog officiating.

Don was a proud Veteran and loved serving his country.  While in the military, he worked as a Hospital Corpsman Third Class (HM3) in the United States Navy.  During his time, he served in the Vietnam War, where he received numerous medals and commendations.  His proudest being awarded 2 Purple Hearts for his injuries sustained while in combat.  After leaving the military, Don worked on the oil rig and later became a jack of all trades.  He could fix almost anything, and had the ability to walk others through the process of solving issues.

Mr. Jackson had a loving personality, and he made conversation and friendships easily.  Don loved his family and grandchildren more than anything.  This was evident not only in his words, but always in his actions.  He would always show up for all of his grandchildren’s activities, and he was always there when you needed him most.  He was an avid fisherman, Alabama Crimson Tide supporter, Nascar lover, and had a giving heart.  Don loved fishing whether it was on the bank or deep out on the water in a boat.  Every Saturday in the fall you could guarantee he was screaming a big Roll Tide Roll at the TV, and daily you would find him dressed in an Alabama shirt and one of his many Alabama hats.  You could always find Don donating to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, community fundraiser’s, and various animal shelters.  There is no doubt that Don lived a full and interesting life.

Don was born January 24, 1947, to the late Lewis B. and Foye Wyatt Jackson.  In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his stepmother, Helen Jackson.  Don is survived by his special friend and caregiver, Alice Ivey; daughter, Elizabeth Crawley (Ryan) of Brantley; sister, Shirley Burnett (Wayne) of Pascagoula, Mississippi; grandchildren, Tanner, Faith, and Emma Crawley; and numerous family and friends.
